Paper coating

Effect pigments, aluminium pigments, gold bronze pigments, vacuum metallized pigments

Gift wrapping paper

Gift wrapping paper is often refined by applying appealing gold and silver effects. Metallic effects and wear resistance are important quality criteria to be considered when selecting SCHLENK metal pigments and when creating a formulation.

Tissues

Metallic effects for highly absorbent printing substrates. In general, water-based flexo printing inks are used for printing highly absorbent substrates (primarily for napkins and similar household and hygienic items). The formulation plays the most important part in achieving the best possible metallic effects

Ethyl acetate (ET) aluminium paste

Special solvent pastes designed for use with specific formulations are available for use in gravure, flexo and screen printing inks. Selection is based on the printing process and drying speed requirements, as well as on the substrate limitations.

Aquamet NPW/3400 34 60 water
Aquamet NPW/2600 24 60 water

Decomet®

Decomet® is the product name for vacuum metalized pigments (VMPs) by SCHLENK. The manufacturing process makes these pigments extremely thin, and in appearance they are extremely smooth and highly reflective when being applied on foils.

Decomet pigments can be used in sheetfed offset, gravure, flexo and screen printing inks. They can achieve effects similar to those produced with metalized substrates and foils, and because they are non-leafing, the effects can also be tinted with color pigments. Special compositions for water-based and UV curable inks complete the range of this highly attractive product range.

D 50 value [µm] Solid content Solvent Application
Decomet 3004 07/10 C0 7 10 Ethylacetate
Decomet 2010/10 12-15 10 methoxy propanol
Decomet 3010/10 11-14 10 methoxy propanol
Decomet 4010/10 11-14 10 methoxy propanol

Grandal® W

Grandal® W are aluminium granules for water borne systems based on non-leafing aluminium pigments.

D 50 value [µm] Solid content Solvent Application
Grandal W/8500 15 80 urea-aldehyde resin
Grandal W/9600 13 80 urea-aldehyde resin
Grandal W/9800 8.5 80 urea-aldehyde resin
Grandal W/8500 15 80 water
Grandal W/9600 13 80 water

Grandal®

Grandal® products are aluminium pellets offered by SCHLENK and typically consist of approx. 95% pigment and 5% binder. They allow dust-free processing, are easy to dose and disperse, and can be used in a variety of formulations because unlike pastes they do not contain specific solvents.

Both leafing and non-leafing aluminium pigments are available in this delivery form, along with Grandal W versions for water-based printing inks and in the Grandal 170 for energy curable systems.

D 50 value [µm] Solid content Solvent Application
Grandal 7600 13 80 urea-aldehyde resin
Grandal 9600 14 80 urea-aldehyde resin
Grandal 7950/95 6 95 urea aldehyde resin

Grandor®

The Grandor® types are pigment preparations in pellet form consisting of approx. 95% pigment and 5% binder for solvent based gravure, flexo and screen printing inks. The Grandor W series (with a water soluble carrier resin) are available for water-based systems.

Colors: Rich gold, rich pale gold and pale gold (other colors by request) Form of delivery: Dust-free pellets that are easy to dose.
