The chemical properties of metals are used in many ways in technical chemical applications. Metal powders are used either as chemical reaction partners (“reactant”), energy sources or catalysts. Both “flakes” of metal powder are used as well as spray grit made of aluminium, copper and copper alloys. Selection depends on the application and, in most cases, is made per customer.
Pyrotechnics & Civil explosives
In pyrotechnics, lamellar aluminium powders and flakes are used in addition to other fuels and effect makers in firecrackers and small rockets (sound effects), in fireworks (propellant and light effects), for stage effects, in sparklers and in other pyrotechnical products.
Technical ceramics
