Expansion to include orange: SCHLENK introduces ZENEXO® CopperGlow as a third effect pigment to complete the ZENEXO® Ternary System (ZTS)
Roth-Barnsdorf, 21.06.2021
SCHLENK Metallic Pigments, a leading manufacturer of effect pigments, offers Zenexo® CopperGlow WB 21 OO, a new effect pigment for coatings, printing inks and plastics applications.
Zenexo® CopperGlow WB 21 OO is now the third effect pigment available based on the patented UTP® technology," explains Dr. Frank J. Maile, Global Technical Director BU Effect Pigments.
"The pigment, that expands the Zenexo® color range with a bright brilliant orange, facilitates formulation for our customers in the popular copper color range and enables equally elegant anodizing effects. The third pigment now completes the Zenexo® Ternary System (ZTS) mixing concept. The ternary system originating from metallurgy, and consisting of the (semi-)precious metals silver, gold and copper, has now been realized for coatings, printing inks and plastics applications with the Zenexo® effect pigments GoldenWhite, GoldenShine and CopperGlow from SCHLENK. The subtle difference, however, is that no (semi-)precious metals are needed for the optical imitation. This enables color shade elaboration in the gold-white-gold-copper range while retaining all the advantages of Zenexo® technology such as hiding power, high chroma and superior flop with a thin coating layer and safe handling.
Zenexo® CopperGlow WB 21 OO features the "WB" surface treatment to ensure weather and moisture resistance and compatibility in various applications. The pigment is in powder form and, in addition to its high storage stability, offers the advantage of not altering the formulation with unwanted solvents when used in waterborne automotive OEM coatings, among other applications.
Zenexo® is the SCHLENK brand for effect pigments based on UTP® technology for coatings, plastics and printing applications. According to valid transport regulations, the product is not a dangerous good and is not classified according to the CLP regulation.
UTP®-Technology (Ultra-Thin Pigment technology) is a unique technology from SCHLENK that enables substrates with a reproducible and perfectly uniform thickness distribution and an unsurpassed form factor. It is based on an ultra-thin aluminum substrate stabilized with silicon dioxide. SCHLENK holds several patents on this technology.
